Most table linens are a polyester material and should be washed in cold water with normal detergent. It is okay to use stain remover when necessary, but bleach should only be used for white linens. To dry, use a low heat setting. Overall, be sure to only launder one or two tablecloths at a time due to their size and weight. If your tablecloth does need to be ironed, take the extra time to do so. This can create a whole different look to your space.
In addition, the post-party clean up is just as, if not more, important than the preparation. After your holiday party ends, don’t let your dirty linens sit for days on your laundry room floor, especially if there are stains. Leaving food and stains on the linens expand the likelihood that they won’t be able to be removed. After being laundered, store them away carefully.
